Here at Middleton Health Centre we love to celebrate the success of our patients whether it be stopping smoking, losing weight or conquering their anxieties and depression.
We believe this encourages others that they’re not the only person and that with a helping hand it can be done.
Every year practices give out awards to patients who have brought about significant change in their lives. Here are some of our top 10…
Lisa lost 5 stone in weight, improved her mood through exercise and sorted out her marriage through counselling.
Jane and Jez had not been able to have a baby, but all the tests had shown nothing was significantly wrong. A small intervention from the practice and an unexpected baby was born.
Neil stopped drinking and stayed dry. Next he managed to get his girlfriend to stop taking drugs. Then Neil got a job. The children started going to school and their behaviour improved; they slept better. Eventually they were taken off the child protection register. Their house is unrecognisable.
Eileen cares for her mother who has severe dementia. Eileen got our patient hero award for simply being amazing.
Brian had walked out of the operating theatre in a panic about having his life-saving heart operation. Brian got the hero award, when he finally, with much support, got the courage to actually have the operation done.
Elaine received the award for leaving her violent partner and taking her children to a refuge. Her award was for her courage to give her children a better life.
Sean got an award for going to school every day for a term.
Dillon got his award for sticking by his girlfriend when she got post-natal depression.
Jane got her diabetes under control for the first time in five years.
Jacob stopped smoking weed, and started volunteering at a local youth club. Next he stopped smoking cigarettes. Recently he started on a college course.
